Why choose an APL Member?

The Association of Professional Landscapers (APL) is a trade body who aim to promote the highest level of standards within the industry. It is affiliated to the Horticultural Trades Association. To become a Landscape member, a landscaping business must have been trading for at least two years. They will then go through a rigorous inspection process covering paperwork and process, health and safety and quality of workmanship. The same applies for our Professional Gardeners.

The APL site inspections ensure that members are adhering to all health and safety requirements, workmanship is of the highest standard and the business is being professionally run.

There are no minimum trading periods required for Designer membership. However, designers must put forward two comprehensive submissions of built projects for adjudication before membership is granted.

Once the business has been accepted as an APL member, it undergoes regular assessments. These are a combination of site based, office based and online inspections. These checks ensure high standards are maintained. The vetting process is so rigorous that the APL is the only landscaping trade body whose members have been accepted by the Government backed TrustMark accredited scheme.

TrustMark ensures the association maintains its own standards by undergoing a check from Trustmark Auditors on an annual basis. The Association of Professional Landscapers is at the forefront of developing and maintaining professional standards and services, providing you with the confidence you need when choosing a landscaper, designer or professional gardener.
