Date of release: 24th August 2009
Members of the Association of Professional Landscapers (APL) are invited to submit entries for the APL Awards 2010 which are sponsored by Bradstone. The awards provide an opportunity to celebrate the best in British landscaping and enable winning landscapers to gain national recognition for their achievements.
Following feedback from judges and entrants, the APL committee decided to review the categories and, with the help of Chris Young - one of the APL Awards judges, they have revised the categories for the 2010 Awards to better represent the type of work being taken on by APL members.
The project value categories have been re-aligned to demonstrate the project sizes being taken on and the front garden category will now be grouped with these project value categories. This means that the categories for 2010 are as follows:
Category 1 Project value under £15,000 - Landscape/garden scheme
Category 2 Project value between £15,000 & £30,000 – Landscape/garden scheme
Category 3 Project value between £30,000 & £60,000 - Landscape/garden scheme
Category 4 Project value between £60,000 & £100,000- Landscape/garden scheme
Category 5 Project value over £100,000 - Landscape/garden scheme
Category 6 Soft Landscaping – Any entrant
Category 7 Overall Design & Build – Designed by the landscaper
Category 8 Commercial Garden – Any entrant
Category 9 Maintenance - Landscape or garden, interior or exterior
Category 10 Special Feature – Any entrant
Category 11 Young Achiever – Entrant must be under 25
APL Vice-Chairman and chairman of the judges Mark Gregory said, “The APL Awards provides a great opportunity for APL member businesses of all sizes to gain recognition for the high quality service they provide. Winning an award will not only boost team morale but will provide your business with an accolade that you can shout about.”
Winner of last year’s supreme award, David Sewell from The Gardenmakers will be speaking about his experience of creating an award winning garden at the APL/SGD workshop at Capel Manor College on 17th September. He comments, “The awards are a fantastic platform upon which to build future business and they are immensely satisfying on a personal basis. An APL award is not a magic wand that creates more business but it’s a great and unique piece of ammunition to have in your marketing armoury!”
APL members are invited to enter projects which have been completed between 01 April 2004 and 01 August 2009.
Full entry details are being sent to all APL members; entry forms must be returned to the APL Events Team by fax, post or email by Friday 2nd October 2009. If you are an APL member and have not received the entry details, please email events@the-hta.org.uk or call 0118 930 3132.
