Accredited Member

Full accredited membership is for companies that are involved in Landscape Construction or Maintenance.
To apply, businesses need to have traded for 2 years and pass the thorough APL assessment.
As part of the application process you will receive a full assessment of your business, covering legal compliances, health and safety, best business practice and of course quality of workmanship. This is completed over two stages. One online and the other a series of site visits.
Whilst, to pass the assessment quality of work and legal compliances are essential. Many of the other areas of assessment are there to support you and the growth of your business.

Garden Designer Member (MAPL)

APL Designer membership is applicable to any business that is supplying a professional design service.
Preferably applicants should hold a recognised design qualification, if none available applicants should have been trading long enough to be able to submit at least two completed projects for assessment.
As part of the application process your projects will be assessed by a panel and feedback provided. To pass the assessment, quality of design, thoroughness of design pack and the ability for it to be built are essential.
Many of the other areas of assessment are there to support you and the growth of your business.

Professional Gardener Member

As with the Accredited members you must have been trading for 2 years or more and your business should not be regularly involved in any sort of hard landscape construction.

This is a category for Professional Gardeners.
As part of the application process you will receive a full assessment of your business, covering legal compliances, health and safety, best business practice and of course quality of workmanship. This is completed over two assessments. One online and the other a series of site visits.
Whilst, to pass the assessment, quality of work and legal compliances are essential. Many of the other areas of inspection are there to support you and the growth of your business.

Associate Member

The APL is subgroup within the parent organisation The Horticultural Trades Association (HTA) .

To become a member of the APL as an Associate, you need to be a current member of The HTA .
There is no period of trading required to join the HTA, simply fill out the HTA application form, along with the APL Associate form and start to benefit from this unrivalled industry engagement potential.

As part of membership you will receive a full assessment of your business, covering legal compliances, health and safety, best business practice and of course quality of workmanship.
There is no pass or fail to this assessment, it is there to provide you with all the information and support you need to pass the APL assessment and grow your business in a sustainable and professional manner.
You will receive logos for your own website and vans. You will have access to business templates and you will receive support/ mentorship from a dedicated landscape consultant.

Student Member

The APL recognise the benefits of young people or career changers entering the industry. If you have decided to continue or return to full time education, we have a category for you.
Student membership is free of charge and lasts until the first anniversary of your course completion date. At this point you may be applicable to join our Garden Design Category , or our Pre-Accredited Landscapers category.
