The Association of Professional Landscapers is a trade body affiliated to the Horticultural Trades Association, which promotes the highest level of standards within the industry. To become a member, a landscaping business must have been trading for at least two years and go through a rigorous inspection process. A Professional Gardener will have to have been trading for a minimum of 3 years, provide 4 references and undergo a full inspection of maintenance work. Finally a designer member must have been trading for 2 years, have a relevant qualification in landscape design and provide 6 references.
The site inspections ensure that members are adhering to all health and safety requirements, workmanship is of the highest standard and the business is being professionally run.
Once the business has been accepted as an APL member, it undergoes regular inspections. These are a combination of site based, office based and online inspections. These checks ensure high standards are maintained. The vetting process is so rigorous that the APL is the only landscaping trade body whose members have been accepted by the Government backed TrustMark accredited scheme. TrustMark ensures the association maintains its own standards by undergoing a check from Trustmark Auditors on an annual basis. The Association of Professional Landscapers is at the forefront of developing and maintaining professional standards and services, providing you with the confidence you need when choosing a landscaper, designer or professional gardener.
