A Japanese-Inspired Garden
A sustainable, modern, Japanese-inspired garden. The inspiration for this design came from ‘Yatsuhashi’ – a traditional form of footbridge in Japan. We extracted the beauty from traditional Japanese gardens and represented it in a modern, minimalist way. Incorporating essential elements of Japanese garden design with the Japanese design principles of asymmetry, enclosure, borrowed scenery, balance and symbolism.
85% of the client’s existing hard-landscaping materials were recycled and reused in the design, as were statues and garden ornaments which held sentimental value.
