The Mediterranean Garden

This garden is set amongst a mature Pine forest. The client wanted a swimming /training pool, large sun terrace, an outdoor kitchen, a large lawn around the pergola and a new multi-use studio, all set within lush and interesting planting.

The mature Pinus sylvestris around the boundary formed the perfect backdrop for the Mediterranean style garden around the pool, and outdoor kitchen/ dining area. The cedar clad kitchen with bar has a polished concrete worktop with a large-scale porcelain paving and composite decking, give a sleek and modern feeling. The Olives, scented jasmine, salvias, Lavenders and tactile grasses add soft luxury and rich scent and year round interest.

Around the existing pergola the decking was renewed and extended. A new lower canopy of trees like, Cercidiphylum, Acer, Mimosa, Hydrangea quercifolia, Pinus Mugo and taller grasses, link perfectly with the tall pines around the perimiter. They improve privacy from surrounding properties, and give a rich, natural feeling, with great views up to the new studio. The studio is clad in Cedar and has large windows, making the most of the peaceful outlook over the cooler, lusher side of the garden. The symmetrical steps are framed with multi-stem birch trees on either side, with natural meadow style planting beneath, enhancing this beautiful building.

The whole garden has carefully designed lighting (designed and installed by InLite exterior lighting) creating much drama and a whole new atmosphere at night.
