Location
Ilkley
Set in a rural, windswept location on the edge of Ilkley Moor, this farmhouse garden redesign focused on creating a series of outdoor spaces for modern family life—balancing areas for relaxation, entertaining, and play. The brief evolved from early ideas of extending the house to a more holistic investment in the garden itself, with the aim of creating a stronger connection between indoor and outdoor living. The design centres around the area immediately surrounding the house, reconfiguring the layout to maximise enjoyment of the space, enhance views, and provide shelter and intimacy in an otherwise open landscape.
The designs for a farmhouse on Ilkley Moor transforms a formerly underutilised field into a stunning outdoor retreat for entertaining and relaxation. Sensitive to its exposed context and panoramic views of moorland and woods, the design repurposes reclaimed York stone to create a harmonious layout. Key features include a large bespoke oak pergola, a stone circle fire pit, and an elegant water feature, all meticulously laid out and crafted to enhance the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape.
