Small Courtyard Garden

This tiny courtyard garden was designed in conjunction with a kitchen extension to create an inviting outdoor space in harmony with the new interior.

The design blended both modern and traditional elements to complement the new interior. Clay pavers were laid adjacent to the house in a herringbone pattern to mirror the parquet flooring inside, with traditional sandstone paving used for the seating area. The raised beds around the perimeter used the same reclaim brick as the house and were filled with low maintenance plants to create a more enclosed feeling around the seating area. Smooth cedar timber was used for both the slatted cedar fences and the seat of the 'floating' built-in corner bench.
